This is what I hoped to get from Skyrim!
The technique was there, the implementation was proven to work over 1.5 years before release, but NO, XBox and PS3 are more important.
Timeline:
2009: first GFX cards with tesselation.
Begin 2010 "Heaven 2.0" benchmark (when was 1.0 released?).
2011 November: Skyrim.

Don't get it wrong, I love Skyrim, still one of the best games ever, but: no full DX11, autoheal (seriousely, in an Bethesda RPG?), nearly no secret paths in those tiny castles, and carrying a two handed weapon blocks magic use - that should only happen when you actually swing or use the weapon. Thats it, everything else are no "Design decision" issues. They could have added the "limbs damaged" and "hardcore mode" from Fallout *g*.

This is the "Youtube 4K 4096 30 fps" version since youtube cannot handle anything above 4096 and 30 fps correctly. You can download the youtube-4K version with the usual browser add-ons, it requires less CPU power to play.
