This session will synthesize data from a meta-analysis to explain what the research says about how characters within educational materials impact students' learning and the representation of different social groups in these materials. Recommendations generated from the study's findings include consideration of belonging, authenticity, and identity. Come learn examples of how these recommendations can be applied to media and game development and programs that teach students about design.
