This talk will discuss Microsoft Research's efforts on building an optical machine to solve hard optimization problems. This is a space where state-of-the-art silicon solutions and even quantum fall short.  This is a first time such an architecture has been demonstrated offering more than 200x speed-up and is built using commodity opto-electronic technologies that are low-cost and scalable.
