hi guys, i was curious about this and decided to try it out with Leon when he encounters Mr X at the elevator near the end of the game. under normal circumstances, no. I tried it on easy mode, using minigun and lots of recovery items.

when he does his charge attack, you can stop him easily by shooting his heart during the animation or received massive amount of damage when avoiding his attack.

however that's not the case after you pick up the rocket launcher. the area gets smaller, you can't disable his charge attack although i was spraying his heart with the minigun and his attack is an instant kill even though you try avoid him with full health.
