Edit: my initial impression was wrong and as many commenters pointed out, there are notable downgrades to the gore in the game. Including lack of splitting in half, no ragdoll, no dangling arms for dismemberment and more.

The gore system seems to be pretty much identical (both the fun features and the issues) to the one in the RE2 remake. You can watch my review of it here:
