Much like the original Resident Evil 4, the goal is to use the vanilla SR M1903 as the primary weapon to complete the game and some exceptions will apply such as melee and knife attacks being fair game. Other sections like destroying the AA gun with the mounted turret are unavoidable, outside of skipping it with grenades which I tried not to do to retain the spirit of the challenge.
This won't be possible throughout the entire game, especially for some later bosses such as Krauser because the base SR M1903 is simply far too weak to be of any use at those points. My lifelines should things become too difficult were: Grenades, backup weapon, rifle upgrade and exclusive upgrade in that order but fortunately the only lifeline I ever had to use when the rifle just wasn't cutting it were grenades.
