Resident Evil 4 Remake Part 14. Losing our objective. (Hardcore Main Story Blind)
Part Synopsis: Somewhat better equipped for the ''sniping enemies trying to interfere'' part of the Water Room, it's attempted again. Issues still remain from being ambushed on ground level while having to efficiently make precision shots on the enemies above. Thankfully, it's completed at some point. Making it to the courtyard, Ashley briefly loses herself and becomes hostile. Freaked out by the unwilling shift in behavior, she runs off getting separated from Leon.
After doing business with The Merchant, Leon accesses a new interior section. The gate forward needs a lantern to open. This prompts a massive fight in the next room to take out the cultist posessing the lamp, alongside tons of other hostiles. An awkward reunion/conversation with Ada takes place up ahead, ending in typical fashion. A Lithographic Stone puzzle is encountered and solved in a quick manner, much more so in comparison to the many illogical ones before this. The first introduction to the Spider Plagas is done after, before The Merchant provides a moment of peace.
Playthrough Information: I played the original Resident Evil 4 first back during its premiere on the GameCube. I've since replayed other versions on other consoles including: PS2, Wii, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. So I'll already be familiar with anything repeating or recurring for this remake. I'm starting a New Game on Hardcore difficulty with intent to complete the main story. New optional activities will be looked into, although I can't guarantee everything will be done in full. Likewise, this series won't focus on getting every achievement or every collectible. Every video will feature a webcam and full commentary. Gameplay is shown via a digital version of the game on PS5.
About Game: Resident Evil 4 is a 2023 survival horror game developed and published by Capcom. A remake of the 2005 game Resident Evil 4, it was released on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S on March 24, 2023. Players control the US agent Leon S. Kennedy, who must save Ashley Graham, the daughter of the US president, from the mysterious Los Iluminados cult.
Development: The original Resident Evil 4 was released for the GameCube in 2005. Development of the remake reportedly began around 2018, led by the studio M-Two. Capcom brought the development in-house in early 2021, led by the Division 1 team, with many staff members who worked on the 2019 remake of Resident Evil 2 returning for Resident Evil 4. Following its reveal on June 3, 2022, Capcom stated that it is being developed "by reimagining the storyline of the game while keeping the essence of its direction, modernizing the graphics and updating the controls to a modern standard".
Producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi said he found the idea of remaking Resident Evil 4 challenging as a result of its popularity. Kazunori Kadoi and Yasuhiro Anpo, who worked on the Resident Evil 2 remake, were selected as directors. Kadoi supervised gameplay elements, most notably how to use Leon's knife and its durability after encounters with enemies. Capcom minimized the use of quick time events in comparison to the original game. Leon can now carry multiple knives in his inventory to compensate for their limited durability. The development team was split into three groups that worked on three areas: the village, the castle and the island. It was revealed by the game director that the island will not be cut from the final version of the game. In keeping with the realism, the characters' facial features were based on real people. Leon's in-game facial features will have Eduard Badaluta's likeness.
The team aimed to expand Ashley's characterization and relationship and make the story more horror focused. The characterization of Leon was affected to react more to the enemies to the point he would often insult them. The visuals were carefully developed to improve the idea of horror. The game was developed with the RE Engine. On February 24, 2023, Capcom announced the Japanese voice cast.
