Depending on who you ask, Resident Evil 4 is of the best games ever made and the peak of the series, or it was also when the series really started to go off the rails, and its influence had a negative impact on the gaming world as a whole.

In fact, I think that some of the backlash that Resident Evil 4 gets is less about the game itself, and how it changed the industry at large, for better or for worse.

It's something I also haven't touched for over a decade...my last playthrough was shortly before RE5 launched in 2009. Part of me kept it that way because of how I held it in my mind, but it was time to revisit it. Depending on what day of the week you asked me, it was my favorite game.

It's still fantastic, although now I think I prefer the 2002 remake as the best Resident Evil game, I still hold it as one of the best games ever made. Often duplicated and imitated, but pretty much never topped.
