Resident Evil Gaiden is the second Resident Evil spinoff after Resident Evil Survivor (known as Resident Evil Gun Survivor in Japan) and was released on the Game Boy Color in 2001. Resident Evil Gaiden was developed by British game studio M4 and publsihed by Capcom. The European release was published by Virgin Interactive. Resident Evil Gaiden is considered non canon and follows the story of Barry Burton trying to rescue Leon S Kennedy who got lost during a viral outbreak on a luxurious passenger ship. While the structure and item management is similar to classic Resident Evil games, the combat is completely unique to this game.
