0As he pursues Lott and Lilly, Vincent ends up leaving Umbrella's headquarters through the building's parking garage, seeing the children as they jump into the canal behind the building. After following the canal briefly, Vincent ends up stumbling upon a house, quickly discovering that it belonged to Lott's and Lilly's family. Upon searching the house, Vincent finds Lilly alone and hiding in the wardrobe closet in her room, learning from her that her brother went into Umbrella's facility located atop the nearby mountain, believing that there is a way off the T-Virus-ravaged island somewhere within the facility. However, aware that the facility is likely full of zombies and other monstrosities created by the T-Virus, Lilly begs Vincent to head after Lott and find him before he is killed since he is her only surviving relative still on the island. Disgusted with the attrocities he has comitted before his amnesia and intent on helping two children escape the island alive, Vincent agrees to go after Lott while urging Lilly to stay in the house, afterwards proceeding to reach the foot of the mountain via cable car before running up to the facility on foot while being pursued by Umbrella's humanoid containment crew. Eventually, he gains access to the facility's interior and successfully reaches its lower levels, discovering that its primary purpose was creation of Tyrant B.O.W.s through a process which involved killing human test subjects and removing their brains in order to extract a hormone instrumental for successful creation of Tyrants. Eventually, Vincent finds Lott as he is cornered by a reptillian Hunter B.O.W., proceeding to defend him from certain death by killing the monster. Afterwards, Lott thanks Vincent and reveals the truth to him; "Vincent" was never in fact Vincent but rather a man named Ark Thompson, having actually been a spy sent to Sheena Island by ex-RPD officer and Raccoon City incident survivor Leon Scott Kennedy to investigate Umbrella's activities, maintaining his cover by introducing himself as Vincent to a sewer worker who never met actual Vincent in person, resulting in the man believing that Ark really was Vincent, provoking him to pursue and try to kill him two times after the helicopter crash. However, Lott, who knew actual Vincent, reported Ark's activities to him personally, resulting in an confrontation within Umbrella's local HQ between Ark and actual Vincent shortly after the latter released T-Virus during which Ark tried to escape via Vincent's helicopter, resulting in an crash that caused Ark's amnesia and killed real Vincent with Lott having neglected to tell him the truth earlier, fearing that Ark will kill him if he realized that he outed him as a spy to Vincent. Now aware of his real identity, Ark learns from Lott that the facility contains an underground railway which can be used to escape the island just as facility's self-destruct sequence is triggered. With no time to waste, Ark sends Lott to collect his sister while he proceeds towards the underground rail station in order to prepare everything for his and childrens' escape...
