So I've been playing Square's PS2 debut, The Bouncer, a game released shortly before they merged into Square Enix. It wasn't that great of a game, to be frank, but I think it did a lot to advance early 3D action games tangentially. This is a pretty surface level review just for the sake of being more entertaining rather than being educational. (though both those adjectives are putting too high of a status for my content). Some negative aspects I didn't cover in the video are as follows:

- Lack of environmental sound effects, they couldn't even include sounds of footsteps, which was rather jarring with just how spoiled I've become with attention to sound detail modern days go out of their way to include.

- Backstory of characters are included through brief back and forths in the form of written dialogue to hold your attention in loading screens. (great idea, but it just loads to the next segment without a continue button prompt to press.)

- Voice acting wasn't strong, but it was serviceable. (Steve Blum even voices one of the Bouncers! how charming!)

Anyway if anything provided in the video makes you wanna dust off your Playstation 2 to experience 'The Bouncer', I'd say go for it. It's an interesting relic to bear witness if you haven't already.

Final rating: 2/4
