Many indie games like to be high concept and run with it, but RetroGrade is title that does parkor with a host of crazy ideas. First and foremost has to be that that is a shoot'em up played in reverse, which would thus make it an un-shoot'em up.

The game has you playing a whole bunch of side scrolling levels backwards, where a failure to time your ship and un-firing to these events in reverses, threatens to cause a time paradox. Such a thing occuring could basically undo the entire fabric of the universe and destory it.

So on top of all this, the way you control your ship has been designed to be played with a Guitar Hero or RockBand guitar controller. You can use a standard PS3 pad if you wish, but the real magic happens for most with a guitar as your controller.

This game is the debut project of 24 Caret Games. Co-creator and designer Matt Gilgenbach is providing us with a nicely informative commentary. The rest of the team comprises of Justin Wilder (Co-Founder & Engine Programmer) Jeff Parrott (Art Director) and Joe Grabowski (Artist and recent graduate of the Savannah College of Art & Design). More details about this team and their game can be found at:

RetroGrade is finally (has been over 3 years in the making) set for release, exclusively for PS3 on the PSN Network, in the summer of this year.

The rest of this full demo can be viewed from the exact point this left off at, over at our IndieGameCave channel, at this precise moment where this leaves off:
