This shows how to get a PS3 bluetooth wireless controller working with RetroPie 2.6.0 (not massively different on the newer versions).

The bluetooth USB dongle I used was:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/201114278601

The PS3 controller is a Dualshock 3 model CECHZC2E

NOTE:
This process also adds the sixad program to the startup processes in: /etc/init.d
This makes it detect the bluetooth controller when the Pi starts up.
