1La cinématique d'introduction détaille l'intrigue du jeu. Cela commence avec les Tortues qui regardent un journal télévisé un dimanche soir, avec April O'Neil en reportage de Liberty Island. Soudain, Krang arrive en utilisant un exosquelette géant (vue occasionnellement dans la série animée) et vole la Statue de la Liberté, quelques instants avant que Shredder ne détourne les ondes pour se moquer des tortues.
Les Tortues entrent en action dans le centre-ville de New York et poursuivent le Foot dans les rues et les égouts de la ville (puis au Technodrome dans la version SNES[7]), où Shredder les envoie à travers une distorsion temporelle. Les Tortues doivent combattre l'armée de Shredder dans le passé et dans le futur afin de rentrer chez elles.

The introductory cut scene of the game details the game's plot. It begins with the Turtles watching a TV newscast on a Sunday evening, with April O'Neil reporting from Liberty Island. Suddenly, Krang flies in using a giant exosuit (seen occasionally in the animated series[8][9][10]) and steals the Statue of Liberty, moments before Shredder hijacks the airwaves to laugh at the Turtles.
The Turtles jump into action in downtown New York and pursue the Foot to the streets and the city sewers (then to the Technodrome in the SNES version[7]), where Shredder sends them through a time warp. The Turtles must fight Shredder's army in both the past and the future in order to get home.-
