Retrotink 2x Scart Comparison | Composite Vs. RGB Scart
I finally acquired a decent way to upscale my retro games to a good quality signal. The Retrotink 2x Scart allows you to use RGB compatible consoles via Scart and output them via HDMI. I am extremely happy with the results, so expect to see higher quality footage during my remixes and playthroughs. Not all consoles are RGB compatible however such as the NES or N64. Someday, I plan on modding my NES or AV Famicom to support RGB since I use those consoles quite a bit.
In this video, I show the difference between the composite video of the Genesis (which is notoriously bad), to the vastly improved RGB video. The composite shows rainbow artifacts and jailbars where the RGB video completely gets rid of them. The colors shown in the RGB video are much more vivid and quality is far sharper than the fuzzy, washed-out look of the composite output. It also works well with capture cards such as the Elgato with OBS. The website says the Retrotink does not work well with Elgato capture cards, however I have had no issues so far. At $94.99, I believe this adapter is probably the best scaler for the money. Highly recommended if you are into collecting and playing retro games.
