REVIEW: ABZU
ABZU is the first development child of Big Squid Games. Does it have the bearings to stand up on its on two feet, or has the independent developers not let go of what they clung too at ThatGameCompany?
+ Beautiful cell shaded visuals
+ A unique teaching utility on sea life
+ Graceful soundtrack that fully compliments the experience
- Borrows too many narrative and gameplay choices from Journey and Flower
- Wasted game mechanics that ultimately serve no purpose
- Disjointed pacing
- Gives up taking time to explain its story just to rush you to each set piece area
