Lethal Enforcers II: Gun Fighters left me cold. I couldn't get past the muddy graphics and hearing this sound bite -- (audio) -- repeated hundreds of times. It's a good arcade port, but it was entirely too shallow for my tastes.

But who cares what I think? Let's see what Electronic Gaming Monthly, Next Generation and other game magazines said at the time. We should start with GamePro, who gave this Genesis port a 5 out of 5 rating. Quick Draw McGraw loves the new twists, western setting and the action. He also loves the sound, suggesting that it's "everything its predecessor was and more." Apparently the sounds of Lethal Enforcers 1 was your parents having sex.

Die Hard Game Fan also loved this sequel. Nick Rox noted that it was a speedy port of an arcade game and that it had the usual trademark Konami rockingness. Whatever that means. At the end he takes no responsibility and suggests that if you liked Lethal Enforcers 1, you'll love part 2. Thanks for the advice, captain obvious.

Next Generation was a little less enthusiastic. After noting the franchise's historical relevance, the nameless writer noticed the drop in visual quality and how everything blends together. He did like the increase in challenge and that more of the targets moved around. He gave the game a score of three out of five stars.

Over at EGM, Ed Semrad echoed the opinions of Next Generation. He noted the increase in difficulty and the challenging bosses. He also liked that there were plenty of different weapons. He gave the game a 7 out of 10, suggesting that this is basically more aim-the-gun-and-shoot.

After pulling scores from seven different classic game magazines and averaging them together, Lethal Enforcers II: Gun Fighters scores a 71%. That's a surprisingly solid score for a pretty shallow shooter.
