Review Run: Stellar Blade (PS5/KOR Dub/Eng Sub) Part 1: The First 50 Minutes
0The Korean game has taken the world by storm with its good-looking main character EVE. But the hype would not have lasted so long if that had been all. This was closely followed by the fascinating gameplay with a mixture of Souls and Nioh/Wo Long.
Later, the demo really let the cat out of the bag and you could see the game for yourself.
Now, of course, comes the most important question: How does the full game compare to the demo?
What is Stellar Blade?
For some, it's comparable to the Souls games or perhaps the “Masocore” games from Team Ninja. The damage output is partly similar, BUTG then again you have enough consumables to help you out temporarily. Accordingly, the level of difficulty is on the lower end of the scale, making it a lot less daunting. Furthermore, there is no additional punishment for losing and you simply return to the last generous checkpoint.
You shouldn't expect DMC or Bayonetta. That's a different subgenre altogether. Overall, you can recognize elements from different games, but the mix makes it something of its own.
According to the developer, the story to gameplay ratio is 30% to 70%. So if you place a high value on a long and extremely deep and complex story, you won't find it here. Instead, a gameplay filled adventure is awaiting you.
