Time to revisit another game that i play very long ago that i haven't touch ever since, Test Drive Unlimited 2. My memories that i had in this game is the school test that i remember not wanting to do at all because the skill i had on this is lacking and only do the easier tasks that didn't involve barrels especially slalom meaning that i didn't further complete another tests after the first license as i can remember on my head.

The game stoods the test of time despite some flaws. Problematic handling and physics was the major cons that a lot of ppl mention. The fun part for some reason was the cruising thanks to its improved graphics, dynamic time of day along with weather changes and it's more when online.

This game is played with Project Paradise 2 which revives online server of the game. I'm a bit bummed out with the amount of players online mainly due to my timezone.

Since this is my first playing this game in a long time, i didn't know what was i supposed to do in the game so bear in mind if this video kinda suck. Also, this is my first online experience with it, sooooo yeah.

This game can be difficult to run on modern pc without it being crashing either when opening it whether would be the game or the map, so i providing some links to software that can get you running.

Links:

1. dgvoodoo or DXVK, these wrappers are important to convert current api to more recent that it can handle, pick which one worked for your system

DgVoodoo: https://github.com/dege-diosg/dgVoodoo2/releases
DXVK: https://github.com/doitsujin/dxvk/releases

For dgvoodoo: A configuration file is required by doing it in dgvoodoocpl.exe found in the root or on cpl/x64(it doesn't matter which) of the directory then copy d3d9.dll inside ms/x86(cause this game is 32 bit) to the root of game directory

NOTE for dgvoodoo: In configuration control panel, you had to enable fast video memory access under directx tab which is what i did

For DXVK: Just copy d3d9 inside the extracted directory then x32(the game is 32 bit) to the root of game directory. Avoid async version if you don't want to deal with graphical pop-in

2. LAA: https://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/large-address-aware.112556 or https://www.moddb.com/downloads/large-address-aware1

NOTE: You must do this after you checking the file if you plan to use with project paradise 2 or other online launcher, otherwise it will redownload it

3. Universal Launcher(Only when you want to play offline): https://turboduck.net/forums/topic/28202-knyazev-tdu2-universal-launcher-v36

Server that i use: https://project-paradise2.de

Patch i used to improved it: https://turboduck.net/files/file/330-tdu2-unofficial-patch

That's all the tools you really need to get this running, hope it works out.

To put the intro in context, i was experimenting on the account i created beforehand by putting wrong password since i'm concern on the security cause you had to create it in-game and it didn't allow me to logged in which what it want but problem arise as soon i logged in with a correct one and the game is just stuck for long time until the message telling the server was unavailable and i'm doing this multiple times over that one time i did able to do login in then after that i couldn't do it the same thing again and i ended up creating another account due to that and it works now. The moral of the story, don't put the wrong password might be EVER or else you WILL get stuck.

Specs:

OS: Windows 11 x64
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 4500
GPU: Powercolor RX 6600
RAM: 2x8GB GeIL Evo Potenza DDR4-2666Mhz
Dgvoodoo: 2.82.5(since dxvk crash on me with creating swapchain failed in d3d9 log file thanks to amd driver)
API: D3D12
