Rewriting the Soulslike rulebook - Lords of the Fallen (2023) developer interview
Mirror Gaming's Aaron Potter sits down with Cezar Virtosu (Creative Director at HexWorks) and Saul Gascon (Head of Studio and Executive Producer for Lords of the Fallen) to talk about Lords of the Fallen (2023).
In a year when FromSoftware looks to be easing up on the Soulslike accelerator in lieu of Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon, I couldn’t help but feel like veteran hardcore action RPG players will most certainly have their hunger satiated later this year by Hexworks’ modernisation of Lords of the Fallen.
The original had a mixed reputation at best, but by embracing a much quicker pace, class system, more interconnected world and extending a hand to genre newcomers via the inclusion of parallel worlds, this 2023 version left me with the impression that it was a significant step up. Lords of the Fallen’s potential to impress has unequivocally risen.
