NSX @ Penultimate Gear Test Track, of course. Where else would you go for street car shenaniganry?

In simple terms : the last car I've enjoyed this much was the Game Stock Car Extreme Formula Vee. That's high company.

Car is a blast, the Type R version is a great track car to boot, a absolute riot around the Nordschleife. It's a totally different beast the Type R, much more immediate, much more direct. More communicative, but IMO... less fun to just drive.

I've been driving the base NSX pretty much non stop over the weekend of it's release and I can't get enough. Race cars are boring to drive, exciting to race. Street cars are boring to race, exciting to drive - if done right. This is done right.

I'd put this car into the best of the best category. It really is like an HD Rerelease of an old game, it's immediately familiar and just as fun - but more detailed. While IMO it is an easier car to drive than the rF1 mod, and certainly feels a bit too stable (slightly too much rear grip IMO, emphasis on slightly), I feel like this is how I'd expect this car to handle - let alone if it had more modern tires in terms of the tires themselves (thus explaining my thoughts of slightly too much grip - 90s tires versus 2014 tires), not necessarily the size.

The differences between small tires and slightly larger tires is perceptible. The softer and stiffer suspensions feel different. The Type R is so head and shoulders above the base car... Things you expect to make a difference actually DO make a difference you can notice.

Really, the extra options available on this car make it much more fun. You can easily tell the differences driving them one after another - one of those things that make sim racing awesome you could say. In games like Forza / Gran Turismo you can buy a newer model of the same car, 99% of the time you'd never notice any difference outside any game imposed tuning limitations. Not so here. Really.

Yes, the car is a little bit more isolated than the Panoz and other cars in rF2. It's not the best in terms of feel. However, that is easily explained logically and easily dealt with - remember, on a non rubbered in track a higher FFB multiplier is ideal! Approach it knowing that it has beefy sidewalls and you will get it. Think of F1 as a radical comparison - the switch to large rims is so debated because the tires currently are a large part of the suspension travel in a car like that due to the sidewalls.

Yes, the sounds are weak, but they aren't terrible terrible. I could do with a bit more dynamic between loud and quiet (ala the rF1 mod) - though that could be just my sound settings in rF2 admittedly. Minor issue. Tire screech is great and really helps you find the grip - very useful under braking. Lock up is easy to detect. Sound wise only R3E impresses me, so it's not the end of the world IMO.

So, the question is.
Yes, it's worth driving if you own rF2. That is obvious.

Worth buying rF2 for? Ehhhhh.
Alone? Nah. But with some of the other cars and having seen the quality and content side start to ramp up from ISI, I'd say now would be a good time to start getting with rF2. It's still a bit of a wild card, but when it's switched on, hot damn it's switched on.

Anyways, back to NSXing. This grin might get stuck on my face at this rate.
