OK, time for the OTHER main poster boy to shine! Ky Kiske, First King of Illyria...I already went into detail on him earlier so I can spare myself some description space!

Set 1: Council of Three
Ky (Me) vs. Millia (leafjuice)

Uh-oh, a level 88 player! This is gonna be rough! Millia Rage, for the record, is a speedy assassin who's main gameplan is constantly dashing around, leaving opponents unsure of which way to block. In the past, Millia used a forbidden spell that granted her the ability to morph her hair into just about any shape, which she uses to great effect. While once a member of the Assassin's Guild, she's gone straight and uses her underground connections for good. Main thing to take note of here is she is the only character in the game with TWO air-dashes, which she uses to mix you up. She's also got low health and somewhat low damage output to compensate...

I got mixed up a fair amount to be sure, but I knew to try to jump out of certain situations where I could and poke her with my big sword. I did OK here overall, for my first match in Floor 8! I find the end of the last match pretty funny. Who would have thought Ky would lose out in a war of projectiles?

Set 2: "A Happy Family"
Ky (me) vs. Sol (PropheticSamurai)

Man we get this stage a lot...apparently it's among the stages with little to no lag? Maybe that's why... So here's the two series poster boys going at it. At this point, I'm wise to a lot of Sol's tricks! Poor guy REALLY wanted to land Heavy Mob Cemetery but I wasn't about to let it happen. I'm starting to notice at this point I keep accidentally Riding the Lightning when I don't mean to...also I spam Dire Eclat too much (the yellow spin slash move) when I can only really combo into it if I'm super close to the opponent. So, I ended up getting matched with PropheticSamurai again right after, but I cut it just because uh...nothing much to see. I won twice and then they declined to rematch, but that might have influenced what you're about to see here...

Set 3: Council of Three
Ky (me) vs. I-No (Samurai Heart)

Another Samurai?! And neither of them were Nagoriyuki! But uh...you might notice this "set" ends super quickly...Strive can just up and end your current match with someone if you're on too much of a win streak I guess so uh...unfortunately I wasn't able to close out this set and instead get moved up AGAIN to Floor 9 and I KNOW for a fact I can't be ready yet. I really wanted to keep playing too but the game had other plans!

Set 4: Council of Three
Ky (me) vs. Potemkin (PPGuys)

Uh-oh...a Potemkin right off the bat! (Well actually I fought another Pot back on Floor 8 I cut...mostly cuz this one seemed more interesting) So...Potemkin is a series regular, and one of the few grapplers of the cast. Once a slave and now a soldier of the tech-loving floating nation of Zepp, Potemkin has uh...I think some kinda mutation where his body keeps growing? So this suit of armor helps regulate it and keep him from getting even beefier, while also letting him bring the PAIN. Potemkin can do BIG damage with only a few moves and despite not having a ground or air dash, he has his ways of closing the gap to land his signature move, the Potemkin Buster which uh...hurts!

H-How about that Double KO?! I simply HAD to include that because it feels super rare. Oh and for those curious, if one of us had been down a round already, that double KO wouldn't result in a win for the other and we'd have to play again. Interesting but good to know! But yeah uh...Pot's scary. He was considered the best character back in Strive's first beta and he's still damn good here, even if he's apparently been nerfed. He's a bit of a scrub killer I suppose...there's just a lot of things I need to get better at countering. Mega Fist seems super hard to overcome and once Pot throws out that force field super...you're kinda cornered if he gets to do it at full-screen. Don't jump like I did or else you get the Heavenly Potemkin Buster! So yeah, this is going GREAT!

Set 5: Castle of the Silver Fleet
Ky (me) vs. Chipp (Darkstalkers)

Bookending this with another speedy character! Chipp is a weeaboo ninja wannabe who goes from rags to riches. Or rather drug addict to President of an African Kingdom that wants to emulate Japanese culture. Yeah... He's the kinda guy who loves to spout random Japanese words even if it makes no sense! Chipp has the lowest health in the game by far, but is super fast, has THREE jumps and with practice, some crazy combos only he can do, so it balances out.

Yeah uh...that was rough, not gonna lie! And while the video ends on me now being ranked back DOWN...I actually kept playing and....kept ranking down. Shoulda quit while I was behind. I won't blame Ky....mostly. But it was kinda nuts the game kept promoting me despite how little I play, so it's not that bad.

Hope to play more Strive soon!
