8There were four clues I wanted to follow up on after the last video. One of those was a literal dead end. One was more back story. The other two opened up the world to us...
The barrier is down. The cart is lowered. We can now ride the rails on a heavy-modified railcart and shoot lazers to get through barriers.
This is Obduction, a recent release from Cyan, the makers of Myst and Riven. It has been many years since one of their adventure games has been released. I grew up with the originals. Beat both on my own. Even played the parody, Pyst, starring John Goodman. It was awful; don't play it. But Myst and Riven were excellent! Heck, I enjoyed them so much I read the books! I do recommend those.
Obduction is set in a prison, a cell, a greenhouse, a biodome, whatever you want to call it, on an alien world. The people call it Hunrath. The people may all be dead. All you see are pre-recorded messages for new arrivals. We don't know why we're here or how long we'll stay. And the world doesn't seem quite right. Rocks and houses and towns all seem forged together in a mishmash that doesn't make sense. Someone or something had to have done this, but why?
Abduction is one thing, and we seem to have experienced that. But obduction is quite another. That's when oceanic lithosphere overthrusts onto continental lithosphere. This alien world seems to have similar properties, although perhaps on more dimensions than three.
Really, I know nothing more than what I've observed so far. Come and see what that is...

As you walk beside the lake on a cloudy night, a distant thunderclap demands your attention. A curious, organic artifact falls from the starry sky and inexplicably, without asking permission, transports you across the universe. You’ve been abducted from your cozy existence and added into an alien landscape with a stereotypical Kansas farmhouse, a white picket fence, and a rather bizarre little ghost town - well… almost ghost town.
