The fall of the Western Roman Empire and the subsequent rise of the Merovingian Franks under Clovis is easily misunderstood. This documentary begins with the Ripuarian Franks feuding amongst themselves with their petty chieftains before Clovis came to power. Clovis eventually conquered their brethren, the Salian Franks. He continued on and rapidly expanded all throughout Gaul, laying the groundwork for France and Germany.

This is not my own research, all scripts in this series are directly from "The life of Charlemagne" by Thomas Hodgkin. The book was published in 1902, so some information may be outdated, but this is still far more credible than anything else you will find on youtube or on the web.
