This run was really long overdue lol.

Overdrive is a difficulty (technically) unlocked after beating the Phantasm Stage for the first time. It's in the Extra Start option, which also means it forces you to try to 1cc, so putting that term in the title is kinda redundant...

Anyway, this mode makes you go through the entire game, except stage 3, but including Extra and Phantasm, in one go, and your hyper is permanently active. (hey i've been here before except not really since dlw only came out last week)
Also because you're in a permanent hyper, this means you have a permanent autobomb. Which is really terrible, since autobombs in this game take away your entire bombstock. You want to bomb manually in this.
The reason you don't go through stage 3 is because Ruri is the only character in that stage, and she shows up later as the Phantasm midboss. Interestingly, in version 1.02a, there was code left in the game for a stage 3 Ruri Overdrive spell, which is gone in 1.02b, the latest version. And yet that makes no sense, because in 1.02a, Extra and Phantasm weren't in Overdrive yet...
In this mode, all bosses and midbosses also only have one long multi-phase spell, with a health bar from one of the CAVE games to boot.

The stages are slightly different, either they're harder, or they have some different parts.
...except for Extra and Phantasm, which are the exact same thing with revenge bullets... as if I didn't hate those enough...

For four shottypes, namely MarisaC, and all three Futo shots, you can press the C button to switch between your normal shot and the hyper shot. This is mainly due to how those shots work. MarisaC's hyper is close-range only, FutoA's one is a fucking downgrade from an already bad shot, FutoB honestly doesn't get much help from tracking Tojiko, and FutoC's hyper wind can make walls.

Speaking of, instead of using FutoB, I use FutoC for this run.
FutoB is good for the regular game, but for Overdrive she's honestly not very good. She doesn't do very well in stages, which are arguably the trickier parts. With tracking Tojiko, it doesn't do well at killing some enemies you want gone, without it, she's a bit weak. The upside is that she's good for bosses.
FutoC however, is a different story. Her unfocused shot has the best DPS when up close, so she can deal with stages very easily. The wind caused by the shot also gives a much bigger item collection radius, which makes getting resources a lot easier with this shot. Also her focused shot helps sweeping stages up near the Point of Collection, since you can angle it in 8 directions. (It points to the opposite direction you're holding when you're first focusing.)
However, her hyper is what's funny. Your shot stays the same (although I think with a little power boost?), however any bullets that get in your wind field get slowed down. (Not all though, some are built against that.) So if you strategically use it by turning it on and off when needed, it becomes really good. In fact, I dare say it's still really good for a regular 1cc of the main game. FutoA could never... The main downside is that if she's ever forced away from a boss, or something, her damage is absolute garbage. I even end up timing out a spell in this run...

In the end though, FutoC's stellar performance on stages ends up outweighing the horrendous performance on bosses. Don't die too much before Tarumi, then facetank most of the spells afterwards.
Stage performance (greater than [why does YouTube not allow these symbols???]) boss performance in Overdrive, so FutoC ends up being the best shot, due to her wind management and ability to rack up the most resources.

Also timestamps will be different than usual due to the spells' importance.
