RKS is a solid game in and of itself, but there's no denying that a lot of the fun for those of us who grew up in the 8- and 16-bit eras is playing "spot the reference," and the game over screens get in on it as well. Every stage has its own game over image, each of which is a nod to something else.

As a side note, I don't think I'd ever just sat and listened to the password theme before this video. It's kinda pretty, actually.

As usual, thanks to the RKS wiki. I could only identify about half of these myself.
