Rob Wyatt QUITS Atari VCS, Entire Project In Jeopardy...
This morning brought quite the yin and yang of new, information and updates regarding the Atari VCS console, the biggest being Rob Wyatt, the head architect that had previously been contracted by Atari to be the system architect for the Atari VCS, has quit, after announcing he has been unpaid for 6 months.
Atari started the day out by providing an update to backers and announcing that the console has entered pre-production, but there is no OS or games or anyone internally working on making this thing actually work.
They have now contracted another 3rd party to outsource making the system barely functional. Atari VCS expects YOU to be the homebrew person and make it work. Some people may be open to that idea, but ultimately, this is looking just like I and many others have expected it to look like. The shell of a console with what amounts to a Raspberry Pi inside. Penny-pinching their way to the finish line... If they even make it.
