In this game you need to help Robo go through dangerous levels, overcoming difficulties, and defeat the boss at the end of the episode. There are four levels and you start in the forest where you have to make your way to a mountain. The mountain has to be climbed so you can enter a cave which will lead you to the final confrontation with the boss in this episode.

You do not have any weapons so you have to avoid all the enemies, though a few of them can be defeated by jumping on them. You have three hearts as an energy bar so if you touch an enemy you will not die instantly but lose a hearth. There is lots of extra lives to collect and there is also coins and gold bags to find on your way.

The games features both horizontal and vertical levels and on the last level there is also puzzles to solve, so the variety in the levels is fine. There is also a nice map to show you where you are when going from level to level.

The animations of Robo and his enemies are fine and the controls, level design and gameplay are great. The background graphics is very nice and highly detailed, and the in game music is made by Yerzmyey and is wonderful.

This game only has one big minus – The sprite engine is not exactly the best! The game looks like something from the Code Masters made in the 80s with major color clash problems. This is very distracting and some places it can be hard to see what’s going on because of this. It is pretty outdated to make sprite graphics like this and it is a shame because the game is very playable and if it had not been a big mess of color clash it would have been rated much higher.

The game is called “Episode 1” so we cross our fingers for the use of another sprite engine in Episode 2!
