In this Let's Play video, you will see me play Rogue Waters (Full Release) on Hard Difficulty and Heroic Difficulties. This game is a Roguelite Strategy Adventure Tactical Combat Turn Based game. You are Captain Cutter, and you command a pirate ship seeking revenge against Blackbone. In the pirates fantasy world of Rogue Waters, mystical creatures exist (such as the Kraken) and a rare resource called Glass is more valuable than gold. You still collect gold along your adventures to conduct trades, but at the end of your expeditions, they're converted to "Glass" that is used to as part of the Meta Progression mechanics for upgrades and hiring new crew members. Another meta progression resources are "Blueprints" (ship materials) which are obtained from plunders or ship equipment obtained during the raid expeditions. Doing Raid Runs are procedurally generated where you travel along a "Region Map" with "Encounters" along the various nodes. Encounters can be battles, events, or shops (for repairing ship and buying items or equipment). Ship battles are turn based where you must decide between shooting down the opponent's cannons to prevent them from destroying any of your cannons and assets, or take out their assets (equipment or crew). This mini strategy game is very fun and determines how the crew boarding combat will be. For example, if you destroy any of their crew, you can reduce the amount of enemies you face during crew boarding battle. Or destroying their equipment that modifies their stats (such as giving the enemy armor, bonus health, healing, or bonus damage). The Tactical Turn Based combat plays similar to "XCOM", "Lost Eidolons: Veil of the Witch", "Capes", "Wartales", and "Crown Wars: Black Crown". Captain Cutter and the Crew Members that you hire (Specialists) have various different special talents and skills, that you can spend skill points earned from XP to level up and unlock. Your ship also have "Ship Mates" that are reinforcements that can be used in place of your crew members during battle. These units do not have special skills and can't be equipped with items. In you crew battles, you can use any Mystical Creatures (such as the Kraken) that you have discovered but they're like Ultimate Spells (which can be used only once per battle if you have the resources for them). Failing "Raid" expeditions have no major consequences. You will earn all the loot and XP you've obtained. Only your Crew Members take "Wound" penalty (Max Health reduced by 1 per Wound) that can be removed if they are left at your Base to recover. You can choose to take Wounded Crew Member with you on adventures but their health will be reduced. They can be healed at event nodes. Captain Cutter and Mates automatically recover any Wound. In this video, I only took on various side raid runs skipping the Main Story expeditions, since I wanted to focus on leveling up my Ship and Crewmembers. I really enjoyed playing this game. It's absolutely fun and addictive.
