The good characters are likeable and the bad characters are easy to hate (most of them). Before the introduction of certain antagonists/bad guys who aren't purely evil but are still morally wrong, there was a clear line splitting the good and bad people.
Funny enough, I like the side characters a lot more than I do the main characters--Flum and Milkit. Although I am loving Flum's character progression with her discovering her true ability.
Heh... I thought about how I wrote the moral characters are likeable, but I have a feeling there will be people who don't like Y'lla. Speaking of Y'lla, I forgot to mention about the whole contrast thing that I love in stories. In a battlefield, you tend to expect certain types of people to be there (soldiers, medics, commanders, etc.) and then you have Y'lla. Why is she here? Well... why not? I love Y'lla lol.
About the action scenes dragging on a bit, I believe it's just my brain telling me I'm not used to action heavy light novels so when I'm reading through an entire chapter of action, I felt long-winded lol.
If Milkit doesn't do what her name suggests, I will be disappointed.

Having even more time to think about Flum and Milkit's relationship, I remember that I still like the pairing of master and servant. But the whole issue with the slave thing comes from Milkit. It holds her back as she often thinks about how she's always lived a life as a slave and that Flum is her master. Of course, with the help and kindness of Flum, Milkit is slowly opening up but her mindset continues to draw her back.
Oh yeah, and something about bandage fetish. I remember reading the end of volume one and was a little weirded out. It's hard nowadays to get my black soul feeling like this. Flum's obsession with keeping Milkit's face for her own is a bit of an issue.
I hope these lolis just get loving sister (or even mother) relationship and nothing else.
Forgot to mention the scene where Milkit gets kidnapped for the first time. Flum searches all over for Milkit and this is where you can see how bad it is for Flum to be separated (or know that Milkit's gone) from her non-lover. Then the reveal of Ink's true form and how Flum immediately lay her anger upon Ink. That was a raw scene and I enjoyed the breakdown.
This also plays later on with Flum's crumbling humanity. Consider after the discovery of her true ability--having the ability to regenerate and having to regenerate constantly due to all these battles--she feels like she's losing a part of her every time. She becomes quite cruel if Milkit is hurt, although she still has that semblance of human with her friends. I wonder if that'll break someday, sort of like in vol 4 when her frontal lobe was eaten away.

Flum Apricot was never meant to be a hero. Despite zero stats across the board and a power she can’t even use, she somehow finds herself included in a party of heroes. But Flum’s life hits rock bottom when the party’s renowned sage, Jean Inteige, decides that the useless girl is dead weight, and arranges to have her sold into slavery.
Tossed to monsters to be feasted upon for her master’s entertainment, Flum makes the desperate choice to reach for a cursed weapon…and something new awakens within her. A grimdark tale about one woman’s blood-soaked quest to reclaim her life!
