WARNING: This video is Rated R for...Rolling!

Time to look at one of my childhood arcade obsessions. Like most such games, owing to the fact that I rarely got quarters to play growing up (because it was a "waste of money"), I was still utterly fascinated and fixated by the Namco classic Rolling Thunder. I remember thinking, as late as the early 90s, that this game had really impressed "shaded" sprites and animations, which is all the more impressive considering it's a mid-80s game. I was also very intrigued by the mysterious masked bad guys, and their green alien looking laughing asshole of a leader. The few opportunities I actually GOT to play Rolling Thunder were fleeting, because it's a very hard game based very much around timing and memorization. But somehow, I still thought it was awesome.

Even later, in my teens, the Live song "Lighting Crashes", contained lyrics that referred to "Rolling Thunder Chasing the Wind" (hence the episode's title), which always somehow made me think of this game. So there's a fun nerdy factoid for ya!
