Lend me your ears, fair Governors, as we proudly announce that Romans: Age of Caesar is out now for free on Steam!

In our previous video, we touched upon what has made Rome itself such a compelling setting for entertainment across the centuries, well beyond its final collapse. To discuss exactly what makes this new historical MMORTS special, we have none other than Mr Firefly himself, Simon Bradbury, the veteran designer and coder for the Stronghold and Caesar series.

As with every legendary endeavour, assembling your ancient city piece by piece from its early foundations into a flourishing beacon of civilization will be a challenge that demands great endurance. From its architectural layout, religious backbone and strategic defences, to its economic establishments, cultural centres and legal substructure, it takes serious effort to build Rome, and that’s why you’ll be doing it alongside 15 other Governors, sharing responsibilities and resources to advance your city and expand your influence.

This dedicated cooperative dimension extends to the wider region, with multiple other cities, each led by their own ruling Governors, to work with or against for your own gain. This can take the form of negotiating trading routes, exchange supplies, developing new manufacturing goods, combating barbarian hordes, extending the frontiers and more. Together, with cities upon cities connected by mutual benefit, you will all form the Roman Empire; a commonwealth of a size and scope the world has never before witnessed.

Finally, within this social network of factions vying for supremacy, there is the Roman Senate: a political endgame that will decimate all but the most shrewd of power brokers. The task will be daunting, the road will be long, but the rewards are more than plentiful for those deemed worthy of them; to be crowned as Caesar himself and have your name echoed throughout the ages.

Nevertheless, talking (or writing) can only do so much; see the breadth and depth of Romans: Age of Caesar for yourself on Steam or at PlayRomans.com

As always, stay tuned for more information about the future of Romans, the Stronghold series and Firefly Studios.
