Hey, I got some mighty fine nitpicks from someone who knows way more about the fine details then me.
From Leif Landevag of Darkside Translations:
- Grolla's stage is a reference to Ghouls n' Ghosts, not Castlevania.
- Sichte is a nod to Dio Brando (Jojo's Bizarre Adventure), who Sakuya Izayoi also happens to be a reference to.
- Yeah, it's a bit obtuse, but a blade of wind cutting off the fuse of a bomb does make some kind of bizarro logical sense to the developer. It's not immediately intuitive, I'll admit, but there is a degree of "fridge brilliance" to it in retrospect. Like figuring out how a very warped mind works...
- I dunno, I thought the out-of-the-way references were pretty clever (ie: the Bomberman room in Zeppelin Stage VI, adapting Bomberman's gameplay to work in a platformer). The trolling in Schwer's stage is what first sold me on the series. But, yeah: RKS is a love letter to retro gaming, so references and shout-outs are expectedly abundant. Freudenstachel is where the devs get more creative (though, to be fair, FS has its own fair share of homages, too). I won't spoil it for you, though.
- "Luste" ("LOOS-tay") literally means "desire" in German, referring to her strong desire to play (the word is not inherently sexual). "Fleischliche luste" means "animal desires"; the "fleischliche" specifies the kind of desire (note that this word is not found in the game). Fun fact: Trauare is the one who created Luste's skimpy outfit -- as a practical joke. Luste, who isn't exactly the sharpest tool in the shed, thought the outfit looked cool (instead of being embarrassed like a normal person -- it's kind of a nod to "The Emperor's New Clothes").
