Let's make a HoMM 3 map -The Tricircle
196Rather then a 'How to use the HoMM 3 map editor' I'll just go ahead and make a map myself. If you have any questions ask away. Also you are free to suggest alterations to the map. In fact, Many of the key features have no been decided upon yet.
In this video I only just get started. I get the land into the basic shape I want and lay down the three factions.
Key points of this map:
1: Players cannot easily attack other player's castles. As there are boarder guards that must be overcome. The spells Flight and Dimension Door are banned. As well as several artifacts.
2: There are no taverns. No-one may hire new heroes. Thus your four starting heroes are a critical resource.
3: Each player has two one-way portals leading out. There are three of 'Mirrors of Return'. This prevents one player from camping outside another player's castles and essentially cutting them off from resupplying their armies. It also gives players more mobility, and the possibility to escape when being chased.

Major things to offer suggestions on:
1. What skills should the heroes start with?
2. What should I do with the underground?
3. What should I do with all that ocean?
4. Where should the creature (if any) dwellings go?
