RoTK X ~ King, General, Scholar Endings
0Romance of the Three Kingdoms X (10) for the Playstation 2.
These are endings from three different playthroughs, all of which could not be any more different from each other.
King Ending: Events stalled when Liu Bei got stuck in Runan for the rest of the game as a protectorate under Cao Cao. Yuan Shao remained at the top sandwiched between Cao Cao and Gongsun Zan for most of the game while I went south and up through the Shu area for my conquest. I believe becoming King is a matter of having just good stats and having over 50 friends. Gongsun Zan remained the last holdout and Liu Bei stayed under Cao Cao's thumb.
General Ending: Started Lu Lingqi as a Free Officer and was recruited by my good friends in the CAC faction at He Nei. Fighting their way out of this spot took an extremely long time and eventually my Oath sister became the new ruler. A lot of back and forth action in the Central Plains while I pushed Liu Biao out of his territory, then took out Sun Wu, then Liu Zhang, then Ma Teng, and then finally Yuan Xi who managed to hold out the entire time.
Scholar Ending: Recruited by Liu Bei and events proceeded until Liu Bei was invited to Zi Tong, where things started to break down. The Shu-Wu alliance remained strong, but Liu Zhang betrayed me while Pang Tong lived. Eventually Wei reduced my forces down to a paltry three cities until I suggested to Liu Chan (Liu Bei died through all this turmoil) to submit to Wu. As a protected state under Wu things turned around immediately by defeating Liu Zhang and his successor and pushing my way out north. The land ended up divided between Shu in the north and Wu in the south, but as a protected state Wu won (which they kind of deserve).
