RPG Maker - Let's Play - Vanadiel - Game Critique
Hello everyone! In this RPG Maker Let's Play, we forge into the world of "Vanadiel Chapter 1: Blood of the Beastmen", a Final Fantasy fan game with a lot of potential.
This game has unique characters and a solid plot line with strong progression, but has a number of issues that need to be addressed:
First, the mapping needs a lot of work. There is too much sparse and open space, too much angular and boxy mapping, and too much wasted areas. These things need to be tightened up for the game to flow more smoothly.
Second, the game's prologue is so long that many players will just want to jump straight into the action. Therefore, there need to be more starting items, so that impatient players can go right inot things.
Third, there are no starting status curing items when there are status ailments. Even a few eye drops will due.
Lastly, there should be NO quick time events for special powers unless they (1) come out far earlier and (2) have an explanation on how they work the first time they are used. Otherwise, you're punishing a player for spending time to build up TP.
We want to see this game do better, so the improvements would really go a long way to make this the best it can be.
