[RTS] Sonic the Hedgehog Spinball (MD) (Toxic Caves; MAX Frequency) in 04'29"25 by Roya Rockwood
Original Run Date: April 025 of 2022.
This is a preliminary test to see how a speedrun of Sonic the Hedgehog Spinball (MD) with a major CPU Overclock will affect Input Accuracy and Physics; at present, Single Segment is incredibly dangerous to do when the Motorola 68000 is Overclocked to 094.30 Megahertz in Regen (Version 00.972D), so testing only Toxic Caves as a Starting Ground seemed feasible enough for Roya to deliver for now.
Unlike Spinball '94 (the Sega Mark III/Master System and Game Gear builds), MD truly asks a lot of the runner when playing on MAX Frequency criteria, precision truly proves essential because the time window to respond to fast drops and bounces that Sonic endures becomes significantly more closed up and the chance of success on a No Miss (No Death) session can become slim at these speeds; until a Rerecording Emulator that is optimized for handling CPU Overclocks comes (while Regen and Genesis Plus GX (via BizHawk) support OCs, they do not support Savestate, Rewind, or Tool Assisted runs on an OC in the same vein that FCEUX and Mesen do for Famicom and FDS titles), expect Realtime to be the only field that MAX Frequency offers for now, wishfully other runners and developers will see the value in this practice and will take on the task to add and optimize Overclocking capabilities for TAS Grade recording.
