Rugrats 2021 Reboot Review: Good or Nostalgia Bait?

Hello Recorders and Rugrats Fans, welcome back to my channel and hold on to your dipes! We got a Rugrats Reboot!
I’m a longtime Rugrats fan, I grew up with this show and this year is the 30th anniversary! Rugrats helped established Nickelodeon's popularity in the 90s. What do I think of All Grown Up??? Lets just say I need a rewatch of that one, before I open my mouth.
A few years ago, we got the word that Nickelodeon was planning on doing a Rugrats revival, over the last few years we’ve been getting multiple revivals whether it was Hey Arnold, Rocko’s Modern’s Life, or Invader Zim and they turned out fine...because they sticked to the original animation!!! When it was announced this was going to be CGI reboot of Rugrats, Id sort of panicked. They should have sticked with the 2D animation that we’re all used too. Its going to take awhile to get used to this animation.
Unfortunately the voice cast can’t save this project. I’m glad most of the original cast, E.G Daily, Nancy Cartwright, Kath Soucie, Cree Summer, and Cheryl Chase reprise their roles. The energy and charm is still there. I can’t say the same for the adult cast, partially for Stu, since his previous actor has passed away. Both Stu and Chuckie’s Dad Chas, feel off, his original actor Michael Bell, is still alive but it could be because of age.
Here’s a tricky thing about the series taking place in modern times with technology and social media. Tommy’s mom Didi is now a vlogger and Stu is addicted to gaming, just like mostly everyone’s dad is these days.
And speaking of modern times, a major character change was done for Phil and Lil’s Mom, Betty, who they made openly gay. I have no issue with because come on, we all knew. Plus I never gave a shit about Howard. I laude them for making that change to represent modern LGBT families. I’d always felt one of the adults should have been a single divorced parent, not a widow like Chuckie’s Dad.
As of now, we’re not sure if Dil and Kimi are going to appear in this series, I’d never liked Dil and Kimi was an ok character, but she always felt like she’s just there.
On a final note, so far the episodes are ok, not strong stand outs yet. This series is really Nostalgia Bait, the changes doesn’t ruin my childhood memories of Rugrats, I can always just watch the original series.
It would have been better if they did a sequel series where Tommy and gang are adults with they're own babies, I admit that would make me teary eye to see that.
