RUIN UPON RUIN (and the music of Korp) | Freedoom Review Part 2
Hi, I'm continuum.mid, and this is FreeDean, an entirely free/libre WAD review show for the Dean of Doom format. Today we'll reviewing episode 2 of Freedoom: Phase 1, entitled Ruin Upon Ruin, on the latest development snapshot as of recording.
If you're not familiar, Freedoom is a total conversion of both The Ultimate Doom and Doom II that was conceived in order to free the Doom community from the limitations of Doom's copyright. It's been under active development since 2003, led by Simon Howard and Mike Swanson, and featuring about a hundred contributors, including yours truly.
I first played Freedoom on version 0.11.3, and at the time, Episode 2 was called Military Labs. It was full of terrible music and ugly, poorly designed levels. But in the latest release it received a major facelift, with 5 new maps and an all-new soundtrack by Korp, so it's the obvious pick for "most improved episode". I'm excited to get into it.
