Man, Olimar is such a tragic character. He just wants to get back to his family but he seems cursed to roam the land of Pikmin... And in glorious Pikmin fashion was have a final area and boss that puts all the Pikmin's skills to the test. Nice call back to the Water Wraith, being an uncanny invincible creature that you can only defeat once you get to the end of whatever area you are in. I find it funny how you could hypothetically beat the game with one juice left and the game will still say you saved Koppai.

I'm not sure I understand the point of the clipboard at 57:13, it even made me freak out about all my Pink Pikmin dying earlier even though I guess I never really need to worry about it lol. This level was really confusing at first (not a bad thing btw). I still don't know what 4:37 was trying to tell me, but I assume it's saying that after Brittany dies the Pikmin leader becomes Charlie. At first I thought it would be consistently changing leaders or something. The end boss also confused me as the video demonstrates lol (again, that is not a bad thing). You see at 1:05:00 those golden cubes form, and they all have a different element surrounding them? At first I thought, maybe, when you destroy a cube, that specific element's attack would go away forever (which is why I went to the Onion to get Blue Pikmin). Kinda like how you could disarm Titan Dweevil in Pikmin 2. Next time I play this I'm going head first with every Pikmin color to the Plasm Wraith, and killing cubes every time I see one. That sounds fun.

I couldn't me more happy with this game. My main take away is Pikmin 3 feels more like a sequel to Pikmin 1 than Pikmin 2 in terms of level design and progression, but it feels more like a sequel to Pikmin 2 in terms of story and general gameplay improvements. Being a sequel to both games, it beautifully incorporates the best of both within itself while still having it's own charm and personality. My only issues with this game are ~

1. There is no pineapple. The fuck?

2. The camera. They could have implemented full 3D camera movement since the right analog stick doesn't swarm anymore, but even if Nintendo didn't want to do that they still could have implemented the camera from the earlier games. Up on the right analog stick does a pointless zoom-in on the minimap, it should have panned the camera to a top-down view. R3 should have zoomed the camera inwards. Tilting the stick down could have done that cool ground-level camera that Pikmin 2 had. This or full 3D camera movement would have been nice. Or just give us the ability to swarm Pikmin lol.

3. The Pikmin throwing speed. I guess the lock-on alleviates this issue, and charging is basically throwing all your Pikmin at once.

4. The lock-on can be a pain to use (1:11:19 being a clear example lol). The fact that it's in the game at all is fantastic, and Pikmin 1 & 2 don't have lock-on, so maybe I shouldn't be complaining about it lol. I like how you don't need to mash the throw button when locked on to something, you can just hold the button down.

5. Calling Pikmin seems inconsistent. Sometimes Pikmin will glitch out and get stuck when I try to call them, though this was rarely an issue. Sometimes Pikmin had to be called twice in order to stop their task, and other times they only needed to be called once. There's probably a system to it I overlooked.

6. The utilization of the D-pad. Down should have been the sort button, up should have been picture mode rather than a hint button. I think I would have been inclined to take more photos if I could get the camera out faster.

7. No Emperor Bulblax :(

8. The amount of time you need to wait to start a next day. You gotta sit through all the fruit being juiced which can take a while, and it's unskippable.

9. I hate to be that guy but... 720p?

Besides those things, this game is basically perfect. Fantastic story (best in the series), great boss fights, beautiful visuals, amazing characters, interesting twists, a great finale.

The qol improvements are very welcome. My favorite one has to be that spicy spray automatically makes all Pikmin with you fully bloom, I'll be sure to put that to good use next time!

Pikmin 1 is great because it had an amazingly unique atmosphere along with one-of-a-kind gameplay and one-of-a-kind charm. Pikmin 2 is great because it gave us almost septuple the content of Pikmin 1 along with improved controls and amazing boss fights and locales. Pikmin 3 is great because it takes the best of both games, refines it, and improves upon it.

Sure, it doesn't have as many boss fights, creatures, things to collect, or locales as Pikmin 2. But sometimes less is more.

More will probably come at a later date. As of right now, I am done with this LP. Thanks for watching!

Beaten on January 15.
