RX-78NT-1 Gundam "Alex" Build [Master Grade]
8I actually completed this about 2 months ago but I was also working on another thing that I wanted to upload same day. I've kinda hit a block on that other thing so I've decided to put this up now while I decide if the other project can continue.
Once again throwing back to my comment on "Howl of the Wolves" this is my third favorite Gundam overall behind Mudrock and the RX-79. This kit is pretty articulate (still not as much as I'd like) and has a lot of parts as it also includes the Chobham armor option. I am, however, not a fan of the armor as it feels very flimsy and unfortunately one of the pegs on a shoulder piece broke during assembly. Not enough to keep it from staying together but it's noticeable when posing. I also removed the shoulder joint sleeves (1:36) because I found them to interfere more than bring much detail and they aren't that visually noticeable to begin with. I may come up with a substitute but I think it's fine without them.
It also has a LOT of decals. I followed the recommendations in the manual but by the time I was done applying them all I decided that for future builds I will likely only use ones of my choosing as it felt overbearing and cluttered in some areas. They were also all standard adhesive. No waterslides or dry transfers at all. As I've said before, despite their unforgiving nature if you mess up, I really love the detail of dry transfers and wish this kit came with some.
Also of note is the weapon runner included with this had 98% of the parts needed to build the RX-78-2 beam rifle. I think the only thing missing was a piece for the sight. You won't see it in the video but I did put it together for the sake of putting it together.
The panel lining on this was pretty tedious but the results were worth the time. The depth that some simple shadowing effects can add is incredible.
This one clocked in at just over 400 pics over the course of about 10 days. I know there's people who can do this faster but I'm not interested in speed building and this can be pretty tough on the eyes so I have to spread it out.
