Turns 214 - 215 Finalized my cheap carrier design and added them to my star system construction queues! I explain why I am going heavily toward energy weapons on these carriers; Extreme Impenetrable Plating (requires oricalcix) dramatically reduces the effectiveness of kinetic weapons. Initially, shields stop higher percentages of energy damage, but when their limited damage absorption capacity is exhausted, then the shields go down and block no damage whatsoever. It has been my experience that against large scale attacks that take down shields, the amount of damage blocked by shields is much less than armor. Lyra's influence production is now higher than the neighboring Rifborn systems and I have a positive diplomatic pressure trend vs the Rifborn!
