Sacrifice was a great game that came out in 2000. It's it's own unique genre, I think the only other game that is similiar in genre is Brutal Legend(I havent' played it myself, I just seem to recall the comparison being made). This genre might also be loosely similar to Overlord and Pikmin.

It's best described as a 3rd person RTS. You common creatures to fight, cast spells to buff them, or defensively, or offensively. Your goal is often to banish a enemy wizard my means of sacrificing a creature at their alter.

Though the gameplay is great, the real reason I'm playing it is the plot/story. It's really amazing.

To bad Interplay and Shiny are both gone now, this game deserves a sequel.
