Releasing for the Game Boy a year after the first release of the Naoko Takeuchi. written and illustrated Manga and releasing the same year as the Anime series. Bishōjo Senshi Sailor Moon was released exclusively in Japan and was a 2D side scrolling Beat 'em up.

Bishōjo Senshi Sailor Moon would be the only release in the series for the Game Boy, with the series making the jump to the SNES for Bishōjo Senshi Sailor Moon, a Genesis release would also occur in 1994. The SNES version would also receive a European release in France. Again like the first game, this SNES and Genesis release was a 2D side scrolling Beat 'em up.

Another 1993 release in the series and remaining on the SNES was Bishōjo Senshi Sailor Moon R. Again the series would remain in the 2D side scrolling Beat 'em up genre, the game is also based on the anime tv series.

美少女戦士セーラームーン』はゲームボーイで発売されたシリーズ唯一の作品であり、『美少女戦士セーラームーン』はスーファミに移植され、1994年にはジェネシス版も発売された。スーファミ版はフランスでヨーロッパ発売もされた。前作と同じく、このSNESとジェネシスのリリースは2D横スクロールのBeat 'em upだった。
