0So Volition sort of remade Saints Row 1 in 2023, and folks seem to hate it. Not as much as that Grand Theft Auto Trilogy remake, but still...
I'm a big fan of Saints Row 3 and 4, but the first two games in the franchise didn't really grab me. Saints Row 1 and 2 struck me as mediocre open worlds with decent mechanics, but little worth doing. The mini-games got dull and samey after a few hours, and the open world tour didn't really make up for that. If you liked the first Saints Row, however, this 2023 reboot is pretty much based on the similar game design. Hunt for activities that are entertaining, then push through the main story missions and setpieces when you're bored.
