The spooky season has come and gone, but I'm still enjoying horror game let's-play's. In today's age it is certainly no unique trait, but I'm glad that this type of viewership is no longer a rare hobby. A part of this fascination is the reality that I may not be playing the game as well as the presenter, so I can be involved in the experience (albeit in a vicarious way). Sometimes, it could also be the obvious scenario where I don't have an interest in playing the game, but interested enough in its story, characters, or mechanics. Probably the biggest reason? A sense of community with other viewers who enjoy games and scares too.

"Alien: Isolation" is certainly one of those let's-play games that fits many categories for me. I enjoy watching presenters get spooked, I'm too scared to play it myself, and even if I do try to play, I would do terribly. Despite being easily affected by horror, I lovingly subject myself to it. But you know, I think I've fooled myself long enough from attempting a playthrough of my own. To confirm, though I've watched this game played many times, I've never played it. The spooky season may have since passed, but I say any season can be horror season. To those who are celebrating Thanksgiving soon, I suppose this extended play can be considered my show of gratitude for this game's existence.
