Once a year we get a Smartphone like the Rugby Smart, last year it was the Casio G'zone commando; such devices are supposedly built to military grade spec and can survive operation desert storm. that's all fine and dandy, what we real want to know is can it survive Booredatwork's rigorous testing and and live to tell a tale of excellence. The Samsung Rugby Smart is a rugged, dustproof device designed to handle the elements with water resistance (submergible up to 1m for 30 minutes) and built to mil-std 810f military spec standards. It has a 3.7-inch WVGA Super AMOLED panel, 4GB of internal storage, 1,650mAh battery and a 1.3MP front-facing shooter for video chat along with a 5MP rear facing autofocus camera with LED flash and 720p video capture. The Smart will also be 12.19mm thick
At first glance the Samsung Rugged Smart is fairly light for a device that is aimed at the outdoor crowd. The device has got Physical button for menu, home, back and search, all its ports are seal to protect from the elements, plus its got a screw lock on the battery cover to ensure the device is fastened properly. The device is 4G capable on AT&T's HSPA+ network. We will give it the traditional Booredatwork. test; meaning its going to take a beating to see how well the device fairs.
So how are we going to test the device? We carried out 4 Test Scenarios, For Heat & Resistance, Dirt & Shock, Low Temperatures, & Water Submersion. All aimed at putting the Rugby Smart in situations it should and is meant to handle with ease. So lets find out in the video Below
