Samurai Shodown: Mega Drive - Longplay
Samurai Shodown (Samurai Spirits in Japan) is a video game fighting game series created by Yasushi Adachi, and developed and published by the Japanese company SNK.
Despite the series' name, most characters are not samurai in the literal sense of the word. In Japan, the series name is officially written in katakana, but it is usually written in kanji (侍魂, samurai damashii), with the second word pronounced "supirittsu", "spirits", to further clarify the game's theme.
Older arcade games are marked by their engrish, for example the word "victoly" (which should be "Victory" in English) that appears at the end of each game. In fact, even the game's title is mispronounced. As many game titles were developed in Japan, "'Samurai Spirits" had its title modified for other regions.
Originally the backgrounds of the fights were created and designed by Tomoki Fukui and the music composed by Norio Tate.
