San Diego Supercross Recap: Julien Beaumer Wins 250s, Eli Tomac Wins 450s, The Race Was Meh...
The 2025 San Diego Supercross saw KTM's Julien Beaumer #23 win the 250 main and Yamaha's Eli Tomac win the 450 main on Saturday night.
A breaking story took place in practice when points leader Jo Shimoda on the #30 HRC Honda hit a pitboard and broke two fingers in his left hand. He would grit out that night with a respectable 7th place finish.
Star Yamaha rookie Cole Davies #100 would get the early lead. He would lead for over the first half of the 15-minute 250 main before Beaumer overtook him and cruised to his first career win.
Davies went off the track later and finished 4th.
The 450 class saw MCR Honda privateer Vince Friese get the early lead before he was overtaken by Star Yamaha's Cooper Webb #2.
A few laps in, Tomac and Honda's Jett Lawrence #1 overhauled that #2 Yamaha, and the race turned into a chess match. Lawrence kept Tomac in sight, but he did not do so much as make physical contact with Tomac.
Tomac would win his first race of 2025 and his 53rd career Supercross.
We head back to Angel Stadium in Anaheim for the second and final time next Saturday on Jan. 26.
