I test the Sandisk Extreme SSD v2 (NVMe) to the V1 (M.2 sata) version. The newer one is advertised to get TWICE the speeds, but it is unlikely you can notice a difference between the two drives. this is ALSO applicable to the T7 and T5 drives from samsung. Despite being twice the advertised speeds, unless you have precisely the right usb port, you are not getting the proper speeds!!
test setup:
two drives
-----------------
Sandisk Extreme V2 (2TB)
Sandisk Extreme V1 (1TB)
two ports:
USB C 3.0
USB C 3.2
In short, if you dont have the right drive, you can save money and get the same speeds with the cheaper drive
